Print PDF

While hundreds of music-loving social networkers from around the world are trekking to the SLCC in San Francisco this August, the SLCC Music Track is poised to showcase its talent!  'The Musician's Ball: A Night of Peace, Love & Music' is the social networking soirée of the weekend. It will be held Saturday, August 15th in the St. Francis Hotel Ballroom from 7p-1a. SLCC Music Track Performance Co-Chairs, Cylindrian Rutabaga and Lyndon Heart have strategically confirmed two dozen live music performances. While Second Life musicians will have the majority of the spotlight, comedians and artists will also entertain the crowd. Attendees of the SLCC will enjoy the evening's events as part of their paid registration! There will be a cash bar open to adults 21 and over. 'The Musician's Ball: A Night of Peace, Love & Music' is whole-heartedly open to the public.   Anyone that would like to attend the show may do so by going to http://slccmusiciansball.eventbrite.com/ for the discounted rate of $15.00 advance sale tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20.00.  It's a recession-buster night out!  This event will be streamed into several venues around Second Life®, but join us face-to-face, if you can! Don't forget your camera for the photo opportunities! Grab your best denim and tie-dye, love beads and good vibes and meet us at the St. Francis!

Peace.

[18:01]  Cylindrian Rutabaga: hahaha
[18:01]  Cylindrian Rutabaga: so...how's the weather
[18:01]  Crap Mariner: "We're proud to be able to provide one tin can and a string for bandwidth. You'll need to provide the other tin can."
[18:01]  SeanMcPherson Senior: cyl, basically, we have no updates.
[18:01]  SeanMcPherson Senior: They're still negotiating with the hotel for stuff

[18:02]  Apple MacKay: and send scathing emails
[18:02]  Cylindrian Rutabaga: yikes
[18:03]  SeanMcPherson Senior: Per the response from the hotel/sAV folks, SwankAV, to TFU, all I can surmise is that swank can't actually read
[18:03]  Feline Slade: You know it gets serious when Apple starts to get scathing
[18:03]  Katydid Something: wtf is a soft lighting package -- why do they need it?!
[18:03]  Apple MacKay: be sure to start from the 1st estimate
[18:03]  SeanMcPherson Senior: Rhi is now communicating with the hotel, since from what I can tell, they simply won't talk to Nex anymore.
[18:03]  Katydid Something: I love the discount -- still reading!
[18:03]  SeanMcPherson Senior: Rhi says in her email to them specifically that we need the rooms til 1:30 AM
[18:04]  Lyndon Heart: what are we reading?

[18:05]  Crap Mariner: ... and a salad
[18:05]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: lol. sadly our choices were slim when we had to move from the Marriott due to community upheavel with Prop 8 support and there were only 4 hotels in the area that could hold 1000 people beyond the Moscone
[18:05]  SeanMcPherson Senior: Joyce, have you decided to drive to the hotel and sit down with patrick and out the words "One AM" on chalk on his desk since he can't read it on his email?
[18:05]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: granted those numbers arent where we are at in the now.. soo

[18:06]  Apple MacKay: is everyone ready
[18:06]  Mia Kitchensink: sure
[18:07]  Crap Mariner: yeah i wore my iron pants today
[18:07]  Lyndon Heart: yep
[18:07]  Apple MacKay: I debated posting last weeks chatlog... not sure why
[18:07]  Apple MacKay: I felt it may embarass folks though
[18:07]  Apple MacKay: at any rate there was a few ruffled feathers
[18:07]  Crap Mariner: so i wasn't far off in my summary?
[18:08]  Apple MacKay: I went ahead and posted just prior to tonights meeting if you all want to read up on it
[18:08]  Apple MacKay: but I am going to continue on
[18:08]  Cylindrian Rutabaga: ok i was looking for it thanks apple
[18:09]  Apple MacKay: there have been other issues we have been trying to sort out as well
[18:09]  Apple MacKay: mainly the bandwidth requirements, SL sims to use, stuff like that
[18:09]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: so you know we chatted over this Monday, from her point of view we realized there were misunderstandings and oddness in how things came off and when was bringing things up
[18:10]  Apple MacKay: Hopefully Rhiannon can answer a few questions tonight
[18:10]  Lyndon Heart: how? can? they do this?
[18:10]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: but basically the breakdown really comes down to any of the say direct hotel questions like sorting bar, any food, etc comes down to having to go through us since the hotel as us as the liability and $ on record
[18:10]  Apple MacKay: Rhiannon can you bring us up to speed on that
[18:11]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: and then she had wanted to help with theme and helping with that sort of stuff.. was something I brought up earlier.. I even mentioned a few weeks back her Summer of Love idea.. a lot pased on Eva's poster and some ideas of Misty's
[18:11]  Apple MacKay: I am going to ask a few direct questions ok Rhiannon
[18:11]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: but that is an idea.. and if that doesnt work with what you guys are sorting, then it doesnt make sense to push that .. she just wanted to help in that regard
[18:12]  Apple MacKay: I am going to quote a few statements Misty made last week
[18:12]  Apple MacKay: ok
[18:12]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: so tis ok, and really one of us on our end at least have to be in on the direct to hotel details, and for things that might liason with that like if we had to do tickets sales to cover expenses, etc
[18:13]  Apple MacKay: ok
[18:13]  Apple MacKay: we had spoken about that a few weeks ago
[18:13]  Lyndon Heart: what's the breakdown?
[18:14]  Apple MacKay: but these are the words that were used last week ...
[18:14]  Katydid Something: Here's Edward
[18:14]  Apple MacKay: [18:02] Misty Rhodes: i would like to talk about my Saturday night event
[18:15]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: otherwise, your show, your content.. mostly when we talk venue cross overs.. I think misunderstanding cause she hasn't been to all of your meetings and deep ideas going on on both side.. so I think it threw things off in what she was thinking of on her end to help
[18:15]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: nod
[18:15]  Lyndon Heart: her?
[18:15]  Apple MacKay: [18:08] Misty Rhodes: its going to be called the TFU Love In
[18:15]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: her = Misty
[18:15]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: who was here last week
[18:15]  Apple MacKay: [18:08] Misty Rhodes: just throw in a few songs relevant to the theme lol
[18:08] Misty Rhodes: like one an hour at least
[18:15]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: I was in NYC on work stuff.. so not here
[18:15]  Apple MacKay: 1st off I cant tell the musicians what to play
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: second off it was proposed as the musicians ball
[18:16]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: nod, yeah, as I said... her misworded but well meaning thoughts on how to help...
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: and 3rd I thought it was our event
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: ok
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: so disregard those statements
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: correct?
[18:16]  Rhiannon Chatnoir: nod, yes.. your content.. we have to be involved in regards to the logistics with the hotel
[18:16]  Apple MacKay: ok

This summer, some of the brightest and most driven virtual world developers will be gathering in San Francisco at the SLCC to showcase their talents, virtual world accomplishments and plans for the upcoming year. Although sponsoring this event as a Gold, Silver or Bronze sponsor will earn you the spotlight, you can also reach this market with an affordable advertisement in the SLCC program, putting you in the hands of hundreds of people in the fields of technology, education, entertainment, business, Internet and, of course, 3D virtual worlds. Ads in the 3 day convention program start at $75.00 (enticing).
