[18:03]  Nasus Dumart: This evening, we are pleased to have seasoned Second Life® Real Estate Expert, Alliez Mysterio as a guest to the 'Lecture Series'.

[18:03]  Nasus Dumart: As many of you know, real estate in a virtual world is regarded as a cross between actual real estate and an internet web domain.

[18:03]  Nasus Dumart: People take interest in a place for it's location and price, for its traffic or privacy, as an investment of some definition.

[18:03]  Nasus Dumart: You use your Second Life address as a 'home base' when in the virtual world. Your 'virtual home' can be an office, a fantasy house, a shop, a Pub.

[18:04]  Nasus Dumart: Everyone has a different reason for having a place in the virtual world.

[18:04]  Nasus Dumart: With over sixteen million residents in Second Life®, there is a great need for real estate to suit most every purpose. Tonight's guest is a person that has made 'virtual living' a comfortable reality for thousands of Second Life residents.

[18:04]  Nasus Dumart: This interesting and informative lecture will begin shortly. Let me just remind the audience of the structure of this event.

[18:08]  Nasus Dumart: While writing ‘The Unofficial Guide to Building Your Business in the Second Life Virtual World’ (AMACOM 2009), Alliez Mysterio came up as a 'person of interest' for her Second Life business success story.

[18:08]  Nasus Dumart: In 2004, after loosing her job of many years as a Legislative Assistant (due to an office closing), Alliez found a little known virtual world called 'Second Life®'.

[18:08]  Nasus Dumart: While she needed to redefine her career path, she took some time to explore all her options. Little did she know that her time online would lead to so much.

[18:09]  Nasus Dumart: At the time Alliez was exploring SL™, it was still a vast digital frontier being defined by its users. It is still that today - but in 2004, you could see all there was to see in SL™

[18:09]  Nasus Dumart: It was in the throws of development. Alliez credits her success to her timing, but she also thoroughly understood the world unfolding before her.

[18:09]  Nasus Dumart: When you see a need, you fill it. Supply and demand. That's a simple business mindset.

[18:10]  Nasus Dumart: For Alliez, the need that stood out was quality of life standards.

[18:10]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez told me during our interview, "I didn't like seeing chat all the time from where other ppl lived. While I dont rent as much actual land in a sim all clients have total chat privacy. I could stand on one island the very edge of it facing you - type, and you would never see what I was saying".

[18:10]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez bought (many) sims, developed them to her standards and offered them to residents.

[18:10]  Nasus Dumart: She developed 'themes' for her sims and offered 'move-in condition' for residential and small business to the delight of her satisfied customers.

[18:10]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez is now a virtual real estate icon.

[18:11]  Nasus Dumart: She has an impressive portfolio of real estate in Second Life, leasing premiere properties to thousands of people over the past five years.

[18:11]  Nasus Dumart: She has been featured in numerous articles about Second Life business, including MSN Real Estate http://realestate.msn.com/article.aspx?cp-documentid=13107800, and Massively http://www.massively.com/tag/alliez-mysterio/.

[18:11]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez is best known for her attention to detail and for providing exceptional customer service.

[18:11]  Nasus Dumart: During our interview she stated, "To me, customer service is the most important thing you can offer to anyone".

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: Very true indeed.

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: This kind of business practice - virtual world, or real world - is the foundation of any successful enterprise.

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: Give people what they want and treat them right.

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez never lost sight of that while building an impressive clientele.

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: She claims that about 80% of her clients referred their friends to her. dAlliez Estates has served over 900 simultaneous renters in Second Life.

[18:12]  Nasus Dumart: Alliez's simple approach to business in the virtual world can serve as a prime example to others looking to gain even a percentage of her measured success.

[18:13]  Nasus Dumart: Although the 'art of virtual real estate' has changed since our interview last year, due to LL™ policy, price structuring and the recession, Alliez still maintains a great deal of business in Second Life.

[18:13]  Nasus Dumart: Perhaps her years working in legislation was the best preparation for defining her 'second career'.

[18:13]  Nasus Dumart: She remains keenly aware of virtual world trends, staying very close to the market fluctuations and LL™ news.
