[17:10] Tyra Jakob: lol
[17:10] Nasus Dumart: Tonight we launch a new category in The Guest Lecture Series, The SLCC Music Track. For the next six weeks leading up to the SLCC in August, we will be featuring the live performers and organizers of the SLCC Music Track.
[17:11] Nasus Dumart: This series will open discussions about the live performance / SL experience, what it takes to create an online following, what it takes to run a successful venue and how to artists perform to a virtual world audience.
[17:11] Nasus Dumart: This will be a type-chat event. - to Lyndon's Dismay.
[17:11] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:11] Lyndon Heart: <--- is now a lecturer
[17:11] Nasus Dumart: I will ask the audience to refrain from room chat until your host and Lecturer have completed their presentations.
[17:12] Nasus Dumart: TIP: prepare your questions on a note card and then copy and paste them into chat at the appropriate time.
[17:12] Mia Kitchensink: Hi Lefty
[17:12] Lefty Stonewall: hi mia

[17:13] Nasus Dumart: OK, Let's continue...
[17:13] Nasus Dumart: As stated in the group notice, Lyndon Heart ( http://LyndonHeart.com ) is not only a leading musician in Second Life, he is this year's Second Life Community Convention's Music Track Live Performance co-Chair.
[17:14] Shellie Sands: Hi Kat, Sean :)
[17:14] Nasus Dumart: Lyndon was nominated by his peers, along with musician Cylindrian Rutabaga to manage the Live Performance aspect of the SLCC09.
[17:14] Nasus Dumart: I met Lyndon Heart in RL at last year's SLCC in Tampa, when I was putting the finishing touches on the book I co-authored with Apple MacKay, 'The Unofficial Guide to Building Your Business in the Second Life Virtual World' http://tiny.cc/MaharBook952.
[17:15] Nasus Dumart: Lyndon impressed me with his easy going nature, professional approach to performance and his ability to diplomatically interact with so many characters, a necessary trait when dealing with the public. :)
[17:15] Nasus Dumart: Outside of Second Life, Lyndon Heart teams up with Shadrack Band and Tweety & The Tom-Cats, playing to live audiences throughout the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
[17:16] Nasus Dumart: In addition to Second Life, Lyndon uses 'My Space' and 'The Sixty One' to promote his music, which includes a long play list and originals.
[17:16] Nasus Dumart: Lyndon is a great songwriter. He has collaborated with other talented artists and writers to create some of the most poetic and fun songs, which he gladly plays for us at Molaskey's Pub. http://Molaskeys-Pub.com
[17:16] Nasus Dumart: Please welcome, the musician with the (RL) famous name and coffee connoisseur, Lyndon Heart. :)

[17:23] Lyndon Heart: we're festival crazy in this city
[17:24] Lyndon Heart: from May- Sept
[17:24] Lyndon Heart: plus I've been taking Lyndion heart out to do solo shows in RL
[17:24] Nasus Dumart: back from crash
[17:25] Lyndon Heart: cause I don't want to go out as George Michael
[17:25] Lyndon Heart: just sayin...
[17:25] Lyndon Heart: wouldn't be prudent
[17:25] Nasus Dumart: Tell us why you stepped up to the plate to manage the SLCC Music Track Performance Chair
[17:25] Thadicus Caligari: lol
[17:25] Lyndon Heart: well, Tamps SLCC was woefully handled
[17:25] Katydid Something: Amen!
[17:25] Nasus Dumart nods
[17:25] Lyndon Heart: SLCC08
[17:26] Lyndon Heart: and so when Apple , Katy, Nasus and the whole crew here stepped up to start the music track
[17:26] Lyndon Heart: I had to be a part of it
[17:26] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:27] Nasus Dumart: what do you want to do differently this year that could not be done before?
[17:27] Lyndon Heart: I had such fun at the Molaskey's Pub party in Tampa as well
[17:27] Nasus Dumart: like be organized?
[17:27] Lyndon Heart: well.. you mean besides actually have a music track?
[17:28] Nasus Dumart: right - there was no music track last year
[17:28] Lyndon Heart: I want to show the people at the convention what music there is in SL
[17:28] SeanMcPherson Senior is so glad that when I heard Jade posted the 'ideas' voting site that I asked for a music thing *chuckle* Had to give people an excuse!
[17:28] Nasus Dumart: musicians just played. artists made art - people had a great time
[17:28] SeanMcPherson Senior: (whoops, was meant for message, my bad)
[17:29] Lyndon Heart: so this year we're on track to fill5=6 hours with non stop shows
[17:29] Lyndon Heart: with artist from around the world
[17:29] Nasus Dumart: that's going to be amazing -
[17:29] Nasus Dumart: and in such beautiful surroundings
[17:29] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:30] Lyndon Heart: it should be the one to beat in the coming years ;-)
[17:30] Nasus Dumart: do you find musicians are approaching you to get on the SLCC Music track - or did you have to find them?
[17:30] Katydid Something: Raising the bar!
[17:30] Lyndon Heart: I did more scouting of musicians than I ever had before
[17:31] Lyndon Heart: \in SL there are around 600 acts
[17:31] Nasus Dumart: how did you reach them?
[17:31] Nasus Dumart: just SL - or other social networks?
[17:31] Lyndon Heart: I asked for lists from venue owners and the music hall of fame
[17:31] Lyndon Heart: mostly SL only
[17:31] Shellie Sands: Hey guys, gotta run :) Sorry there were obvious stream issues :(
[17:31] Apple MacKay: ?
[17:32] Lyndon Heart: but people I know called and IMed and emaild=ed with more musicians
[17:32] Nasus Dumart: Thanks for coming Shellie
[17:32] Lyndon Heart: see ya Shellz
[17:32] Shellie Sands: My pleasure, I will catch Lyndon another time :) Hugs Lyndon
[17:33] Lyndon Heart: so we're down to around 20 musicians this year so far
[17:33] Lyndon Heart: who will actually perform at the SLCC09
[17:33] Lyndon Heart: wich is the best showing so for in convention history
[17:33] Nasus Dumart: The SLCC is in 7 weeks - do you feel everything is 'on track' or are there things you still need help with?
[17:33] Lyndon Heart: and there will be last minute arravals I'm sure
[17:34] Lyndon Heart: Cyl and I are pretty well up to date on the line-up
[17:34] Nasus Dumart: :) yay
[17:34] Lyndon Heart: I'm waiting to hear from Ed Lowell about sound reinforcement
[17:35] Lyndon Heart: other than that it's looking good
[17:35] Lyndon Heart: so not yet Nasus
[17:35] Nasus Dumart: You received lots of help from the SL Music Community -
[17:35] Lyndon Heart: ;-)
[17:36] Lyndon Heart: yes I have
[17:36] Lyndon Heart: lots of performers willing to pitch in and help
[17:36] Nasus Dumart: is there anything about the SL community that compares to RL music community?
[17:37] Nasus Dumart: anything that differs?
[17:37] Lyndon Heart: well, this weekend there was a rather large gathering of SL people in RL
[17:37] Lyndon Heart: here in Seattle
[17:37] Nasus Dumart: how large of a gathering?
[17:38] Lyndon Heart: there were about 20 of us all told I believe
[17:38] Lyndon Heart: plus some non players just hanging out
[17:38] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:39] Nasus Dumart: do you think the SL music community is growing?
[17:39] Lyndon Heart: \there will be more in the future I know it
[17:39] Nasus Dumart: how does the RL Music community feel about SL?
[17:39] Nasus Dumart: more receptive now?
[17:39] Lyndon Heart: I personally have seen 5 new performers that I've told about SL music ti the last 2 weeks
[17:40] Lyndon Heart: I go to open mics and .. recruit
[17:40] Lyndon Heart: ;-)
[17:40] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:40] Lyndon Heart: I should get paid
[17:40] Apple MacKay: loil
[17:40] Nasus Dumart: well - if the audience would like to jump in - Q&A time!
[17:40] Lyndon Heart laughs
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: don't all type at once
[17:41] Lyndon Heart: I'm also showing off a new guitar for Alvarez
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: lol
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: oh - Great Lyndon!
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: tell us about that
[17:41] Lyndon Heart: and hope to land them as my sponsor
[17:41] Tyra Jakob: What is the best web location for updates on the conference?
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: http://SLConvention.org
[17:41] Thadicus Caligari: I have a question, Do you have any idea how many of the SL performers are full time performers, like Tone is for instannce?
[17:41] Lyndon Heart: slconvention.org
[17:41] Nasus Dumart: and http://Molaskeys-Pub.com for the Music Track
[17:42] Crap Mariner: What do you hope to accomplish with the music track? When SLCC is over, what difference do you hope to have made?
[17:42] Tyra Jakob: Thank you
[17:42] SeanMcPherson Senior: Lyndon, what's the biggest things *fans* can do to support their favorite artists, besides the obvious of simply tipping them, buying iTues or CDs, and being enthusiastic about attending their shows?
[17:42] Lyndon Heart: I's say about half of the musicians attending this year are semi-pro
[17:42] Nasus Dumart: great questions - give him a minute to read and respond
[17:42] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:42] Lyndon Heart: that means weekend performers with mortgages ;-)
[17:43] Nasus Dumart nods
[17:43] Thadicus Caligari: *grins*
[17:43] Apple MacKay: Lyndon there was a small mention about song writing... I know you have found a few good colaborators... Do you feel SL is a fertile song writing environment and how do you see that growing?
[17:43] Lyndon Heart: some of the people I know .. some I just heard a couple of time
[17:44] Lyndon Heart: yes.. well, I've found ms Salome Strangelove to be a never ending source for lyrics
[17:44] Lyndon Heart: she never wrote song lyrics before
[17:44] Lyndon Heart: now she can't stop
[17:44] Lyndon Heart: thank goodness ;-)
[17:44] Thadicus Caligari: I am assuming she did write poetry
[17:44] Nasus Dumart: wow - i didn't know that - I love the songs you have with her
[17:45] Lyndon Heart: she was a wtirer of prose
[17:45] Lyndon Heart: and a proficient blogger whae we met
[17:45] Lyndon Heart: I coaxed her into trying her hand at song lyrics
[17:45] Lyndon Heart: and she rose to the challenge
[17:45] Nasus Dumart: [17:42] Crap Mariner: What do you hope to accomplish with the music track? When SLCC is over, what difference do you hope to have made?
[17:46] Lyndon Heart: she writes for Gracie McD and I
[17:46] Apple MacKay: I didnt know that
[17:46] Apple MacKay: cool
[17:46] Lyndon Heart: I hope to have raised the bar for the next team in 2010
[17:46] Nasus Dumart: Grace is our next Guest Lecturer
[17:46] Nasus Dumart: July 7
[17:46] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:46] Mia Kitchensink: it will be fun
[17:46] Lyndon Heart: at least in the music track
[17:47] Lyndon Heart: and her Musimmersion is not to be missed
[17:47] Apple MacKay: so you dont want to be part of the team in 2010?
[17:47] SeanMcPherson Senior: Next show is 7/2 @ 6 SLT IIRC :)
[17:47] Lyndon Heart: 8 songs coauthorered with Salome in it
[17:47] Nasus Dumart: 7/7 6pSLT
[17:48] Lyndon Heart: ]we'll see Apple.. I was a prt of the teamin Chicago
[17:48] Apple MacKay: understoodd
[17:48] Lyndon Heart: and skipped a year to enjoy the SLCC08
[17:48] Nasus Dumart: Crap - I hope that our efforts put in to the SLCC will sustain the Music community long into 2010 and beyond
[17:48] Lyndon Heart: \so I'm thinking I'll follow that pattern
[17:48] SeanMcPherson Senior: So, Lyndon is always 'odd' :P
[17:48] Nasus Dumart: [17:42] SeanMcPherson Senior: Lyndon, what's the biggest things *fans* can do to support their favorite artists, besides the obvious of simply tipping them, buying iTues or CDs, and being enthusiastic about attending their shows?
[17:49] Lyndon Heart: spread the word about live music in SL
[17:49] Thadicus Caligari bites his tongue at Sean's commment
[17:49] Lyndon Heart: still a lot of resident;s out there that have no idea that live music is performed here
[17:50] Apple MacKay: How do you see this year as being the best ever? What makes it different from past years?
[17:50] Lyndon Heart: \I meet at least 3 a week
[17:50] Lefty Stonewall: How far are we from a day when 300 people can show up for a show without jamming things up?
[17:51] Nasus Dumart: That can be done Lefty - just not on THIS sim!
[17:51] Lyndon Heart: from my experience with the live perfomance end, this year will be so much richer
[17:51] Thadicus Caligari: Thats a question for the Lindens, Lefty
[17:51] Lyndon Heart: and will reach a wider audience than it hgas in the past
[17:51] Apple MacKay: You mean with the participation of so many musicians?
[17:51] SeanMcPherson Senior: re: # of users per sim and per show venue, etc, Part of that is something I'll prolly address in some light at SLCC in one or more panels, actually :P
[17:52] Apple MacKay: and being the premiere event?
[17:52] Lyndon Heart: yes.. AND having an actual Musician's Ball show on Saturday night
[17:52] Thadicus Caligari: that would be cool, instead of whats been the ball focus in the past
[17:52] Filthy Fluno: brb
[17:52] Apple MacKay: not would... will
[17:53] Nasus Dumart: :)
[17:53] Nasus Dumart: The Musician' s Ball is the Main Event of this year's SLCC
[17:53] Nasus Dumart: Saturday, August 15
[17:53] Apple MacKay: 7pm to 2 am
[17:53] Apple MacKay: roughly
[17:53] SeanMcPherson Senior: But the secondary event this year, the steampunk ball, isn't in a direct conflict, what with better permitted coordination between groups, all things considered.
[17:53] Apple MacKay: with 20 sl musicians
[17:54] Lyndon Heart: yes.. it's way different than the other years where music was a part of the panels
[17:54] Edge Catteneo: Cool poster for the music events at SLCC
[17:54] Nasus Dumart: right, Sean
[17:54] Nasus Dumart: thanks, Edge!

[17:55] Nasus Dumart: ok Lyndon!
