It's 'Hip' to be Virtual

I wandered through a bookstore last week, selecting gifts for my children and friends for Christmas, when I overheard a shopper talking on their mobile phone stating that, "It's hip to be virtual", as they perused the technology section. I smiled so broadly when I heard that and even listened on, "When you have it all figured out", they continued, "between the online parties and the serious businesss stuff, you find your 'inner online personality', and that's kinda cool!". I somehow knew they were talking about Second Life®, but I could not get into a conversation with them about it, though I really wanted to.

Hearing a random person talk about using virtual worlds so intuitively made me feel very proud. Second Life® is no where as easy as Facebook®, but people are getting it. Finally getting it.
